Bhool Bhulaiyaa eats up competition

 First week collections of Bhool Bhulaiyaa are out and the film has established it's status as a box office success. While the film is a definite hit, it has to be seen if it achieves the superhit status before Om Shanti Om and Saawariya strike on 9th November. Film has accumulated huge moolah from all major centers while doing good business across the A, B and C centers of the country. Mumbai has been terrific for this Akshay Kumar starrer with collections crossing the 4.5 crores mark. |

BHOOL BHULAIYAA has touched approx. Rs. 8.25 crores in 10 days from the three major markets -- U.K., U.S.A. and Australia -- which is fantastic. On the other hand, LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG is excellent in U.K., but is disappointing in America. Its combined total from these two markets, after 10 days, is approx. Rs. 6 crores. Next Friday will see the release of only one major movie and that is Harry Baweja's Vikram Bhatt directed SPEED. The film starring Zayed Khan, Urmila Matondkar, Aashish Chaudhary, Sanjay Suri and Aftab Shivdasani has little or no chance because the two releases of last week are quite fresh and the Priyadarshan directed BHOOL BHULAIYAA is still strong. Coming to last Friday's 'Eid' clash, Yash Raj's LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG started on a dull note in Bombay and the opening was by and large weak almost everywhere. Akshay Kumar entered the US Box Office charts with new release Bhool Bhulaiyaa at number 25. The film was the 5th highest new entry of the weekend, in what was a bumper weekend of releases, a total of 15. Showing on 55 screens, the movie made a total of £512,000 exactly, with a per screen average of $9,309. |
