Patel’s problem

Bollywood star Amisha Patel is upset. Ever since Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) officebearers in Gujarat confirmed that the party had decided to field her from Rajkot, Patel has been flooded with congratulatory calls. She has had a torrid time explaining friends and mediamen that she was not entering politics. On Tuesday, the actress was in Ahmedabad for a launch of a cosmetic centre. Here too, she was asked more questions on her political ambitions. “I am very busy with my shooting and hence I have refused all the political parties. I have said this once, twice, thrice... thousandth time that I do not want to contest elections. Should I say it in French now?”, an exasperated Patel said when constantly quizzed on whether she will or will not contest elections! Meanwhile, Congress and NCP have not been able to work out a ticket sharing formula for Gujarat. While NCP has been demanding Rajkot and Ahmedabad, the Congress has offered a seat in south Gujarat. “Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi are likely to sort this out in a day or two. Until then, the fate of these seats remain in limbo,” said a Congress leader.
