Says actress Ameesha Patel in an interview with AT during her recent visit to the cityShe won hearts for portraying the strong role of Sakeena in Gadar- Ek Prem Katha and that of bubbly and talkative Pinky in Honeymoon Travels. That’s actor Ameesha Patel for you. She was in Ahmedabad for the inauguration of a beauty clinic. Ameesha, dressed in denims and a pink and white t-shirt looked gorgeous and she was happy to be in Gujarat (as she says she belongs to the state).
Talks of her contesting the election from Rajkot has been going around for many days. But she puts an end to all speculations by saying a definite no. Ask her would she consider campaigning for any political party in the forthcoming general elections and she says, “I got offers from many political parties for campaigning but I’m not taking up any at this moment. I have no time for politics right now.” But then she feels there’s nothing wrong if an actor takes up politics. “If an actor can balance both film and political career simultaneously, then why not? An actor has to be interested in politics. The rest can definitely fall in place.”
After this, we take a break from politics and the conversation veers towards films. Talking about her Bollywood career, Ameesha says, “I did all kind of films in first five years of my career ranging from comedy, tragedy, period films to romantic ones. And that has taught me a lot. At the same time, I have also realised my mistakes.” She adds, “Now it’s a different story for me. I don’t want to rush into doing everything that’s being offered to me. I plan to act in 2-3 films in a year and concentrate on doing quality work.” Ask Ameesha about her favourite genre of films and she answers immediately, “I enjoy period films and I would love to do more of them. I also enjoy comedy films.” Talking about her forthcoming projects, she says, “I’m busy shooting for two films currently. I am doing a film with Sanjay Dutt and I am doing a comedy film with Tushar Kapoor and Govinda. An untitled project with Yashraj productions is also there on my worklist.”
Ask Ameesha about her own fitness mantra, she says, “For me, it is a balanced diet along with regular exercise. I never avoid any kind of food be it pani puri! And my daily food comprises simple Gujarati food and I just relish every bit of it!” Ask her about her hobbies and she tells, “I love reading, listening to music, travelling, watching plays and attending concerts.” She admits, “I’m not crazy about sports. I’m more of an academic person.” So IPL and cricket is a big no no for her. She smiles and says, “Yes. I find cricket a complex game and that’s why I’ve no plans to indulge in it.” Finally we asked her if she has any plans for marriage in near future? And pat comes her reply, “Of course marriage is on cards but not right now as I’m too busy with my career. I won’t be able to give time to my relationship.”
