Most star performances slated for New Year’s Eve will go through as planned, Prithwish Ganguly reports. Mumbai, it seems, is now ready to move on. Most hotels in the city are sticking to their lavish New Year celebration plans and five star hotels will be dishing out performances by stars like Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu and Ameesha Patel as part of the year-end bash.
Except for JW Marriott (where Katrina is supposed to perform and is reportedly charging a whopping Rs 1 crore), which is still deciding whether to go ahead with the celebrations, other venues have firmed up their plans.
“We are still on discussion mode. We haven;t finalised whether we are having the party or dropping the idea altogether. We will ne announcing it when we come to a conclusion,” said the media manager of JW Marriott.
However, Sahara Star hotel in Andheri, where Bipasha Basu is scheduled to perform and has paid her Rs 1.5 crore (thereby making her the highest paid star to perform this New Year’s eve), is going ahead with the party.
“As of now, we are going ahead with the New Year celebrations. Even Bipasha hasn’t said said anything about security concerns. Yes, our city has seen its worst terror strike but we are confident that the people of Mumbai will come out of this and attend our bash. We will have tight security in place,” said Manish Sodhi, the general manager of Sahara Star.
Ameesha Patel is said has to have been offered Rs 25 lakh to perform at the Country Club. “We are sticking to our plans. We are expecting a good turn out on the 31st,” said Ziyad Patel of Country Club.
Two other Bollywood sirens — Malaika Arora Khan and Rakhi Sawant — are also supposed to perform at 5-star hotels in Singapore and Dubai/Bangkok respectively. Rakhi has apparently been offered Rs 40 lakh to wear her dancing shoes.
