The soft clink of champagne glasses and muted tones resonated in the plush Louis Vuitton store at the Taj Mahal Palace and Hotel, Mumbai. Black ties and haute clutches shared space in anxious anticipation for a glamorous unveiling of the September Verve bridal issue. Cover girl, Ameesha Patel, looking every bit the star, resplendent in soft white chiffon and gold sequins, walked into the store amid a flash of light bulbs, releasing the issue with her characteristic smile and grace. The cover feature in Verve, showcasing Indian designer wear in the romantic environs of a French chateau, had been produced in partnership with Louis Vuitton.
With paparazzi clamouring for a few minutes with the Bollywood beauty, the other guests mingled, looked over the new issue and made a few choice buys from Louis Vuitton’s new collection (think champagne-hued totes). Excellent finger foods like sushi and canapés floated around, whilst delectable pastries held forte with the signature bags.
While Kanan Udeshi and Devendra Bharma from the Oberoi Hotels and Sarita Hegde Roy and Mario Poppen from the Taj rubbed shoulders with Dipali Prasad from Baccarose, Gayatri Khanna, Falguni Javeri from Fuel, Renu Bothra from You and Gaurav Bhatia from Moët & Hennessy, all contributed a slice of panache to the glittering evening.
As the strategically-placed candles flickered, the evening saw the city’s beau monde including Queenie Dhody, Narendra Kumar Ahmed, Samantha Nayar and AD Singh dazzle in their natty best.
